Blackhawk Bank Receives ‘Outstanding’ Rating from FDIC
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) recently awarded Blackhawk Bank an overall ‘outstanding’ rating on its Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Performance Evaluation. Blackhawk is the only bank in the Stateline area to receive an ‘outstanding’ rating.
Created as a federal law in 1977, the CRA requires the FDIC to assess financial institutions’ record of meeting the credit needs of its entire community, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, while being consistent with safe and sound operations.
The CRA evaluation conducts a Lending Test and Community Development (CD) Test to determine the overall rating. For its CD Test, Blackhawk also received an ‘outstanding’ rating for its performance. The bank’s CD efforts are mainly through qualified loans and services directed at low- or moderate-income persons. The evaluation states that Blackhawk has taken a leadership role in developing products and services aimed at the unbanked population of its assessment area. This includes developing innovative and flexible loan products to help meet personal and household needs.
“This rating reinforces the Blackhawk’s commitment to serving the needs of the community where our customers and employees live and work,” said Rick Bastian, president and CEO of Blackhawk Bank. “Blackhawk is a reflection of its community, so it’s crucial for our business to invest in and help build up and support our local businesses and customers.”
’Outstanding’ is the highest rating given to institutions for the CRA evaluation.
Blackhawk operates eight banking centers in Beloit, WI; Roscoe, Machesney Park, Rockford, Belvidere and Capron, IL. For more information about the bank, log onto www.blackhawkbank.com.
